Inspiring the Next Generation with ‘Unbox Your Future’ Careers Project

As a trusted technology and communications partner, we are committed to supporting local communities and inspiring future generations. This commitment came to life through our involvement in the ‘Unbox Your Future’ careers project.

This year, we proudly took part in the Leicester and Leicestershire Careers Hub’s (LLCH) Unbox Your Future programme to help young students explore career opportunities and gain insights into the world of technology and communications.

Unbox Your Future is an innovative project run by LLCH, boosting high-impact workplace experiences for young people in education. This is done via a 4-week programme for students to take on a business challenge that an employer sets, with the finale being hosted at the employer’s premises. The programme aims to provide students with experience on real-life work problems, allowing them to put their school learnings into action. 

Our team were first introduced to the programme at a networking event, in which we had lent laptops to support a local activity. After connecting with LLCH and attending several of their career events, the opportunity to get involved in this programme presented itself.

A great aspect of the project is the flexibility it offers students and professionals. Our project, for example, did not always follow the original plan. But because of the experience model that the LLCH planned, it meant changes were super smooth. The overall experience was a huge success and something we plan to continue in the future.

It allowed our team to support a local school and provide young people with access to business insights, mentorship and a chance to experience a real-world business. Additionally, the projects align with our core values of People First, Innovation, Collaboration and Trust.
