Established way back in 1973, Stephen Sanderson Transport operates a modern and diverse fleet of over 70 vehicles, serving a wide range of businesses and sectors across the UK and Europe.

The Challenge

As part of their commitment to continuous improvement, Stephen Sanderson Transport Ltd were looking to modernise their outdated mobile fleet by rolling out new mobile and tablet devices with larger screens; designed to help streamline a number of key internal operations and achieve ‘paperless’ processes (including capturing secure electronic signatures).

Following a digital transformation of warehouse operations, the business needed higher-spec devices to make the most of the new technology available. They were looking for an easy-to-use (and manage), scalable mobility solution to replace historic processes, enhance productivity and get the job done.

  • Providing all drivers, and a number of garage and warehouse staff, with portable devices, including smartphones, tablets, and product scanners.
  • Ensuring that all technology was compatible with the new systems coming into the business, enabling the transition to a completely paperless ecosystem.
  • Implementing a mobile device management solution to ensure that staff only have access to core work applications, preventing the personal use of company devices and data allowances.

The Solution

Welcomm’s product experts designed and pre-configured a bespoke mobile device solution, working directly with the staff at Stephen Sanderson Transport to ensure each team member had the right hardware they needed to work effectively. 

Having understood the control/restrictions the business was looking to implement, Welcomm rolled out Mobile Device Management software, MaaS360 across the entire mobile fleet, meaning each device is now controlled by a configurable policy – allowing the manager to determine exactly which applications can be installed, and how data can be used.

Welcomm provided full training for staff as part of the onboarding process, and further support with urgent policy amendments as needed by Ryan and his team.

The Outcome

    • 50 new mobile and tablet devices effectively rolled out across the business mean staff have the tools they need to do their job
    • MaaS360 fleet enrolment and policies were successfully implemented, including training for key staff members
    • Rugged, protective device cases were supplied that could be hand strapped and rotated, whilst still allowing easy access to ports
    • A bespoke list of data and app limitations were actioned via the MDM platform to ensure O2 mobile data is only used for work – never for personal reasons to reduce costs and enhance productivity
