With their chef hats at the ready, Rachel Williamson and Emma Sneddon of Welcomm Communications joined Nigel Todd of Trucklink EU LIVE on Facebook this week to gift viewers a sneak peek of the latest plans for the Bonkers Bake Off, a charity event the businesses are planning together, all to raise funds for LOROS Hospice.
To learn all about the upcoming event, you can view the exclusive LIVE stream run through below. The video begins at 6:10.
This whole thing started because of Rocket Round Leicester; a spectacular public art trail due to ‘land’ in Leicester City Centre for 10 weeks this summer. Rocket Round Leicester aims to support local businesses by safely encouraging people back into the city to view beautifully designed rocket sculptures, as well as raise vital funds for LOROS Hospice.
As sponsors of Rocket Round Leicester, we joined a video call to learn more about the event – during which we noticed that Trucklink EU were on the same call! Having worked together for years, we got together to think of ways that we could do more for the charity, and keep our people connected during lockdown… and that’s how the Bonkers Bake Off idea was born!
LOROS Hospice is an especially important cause for both businesses because of the personal experiences many of our staff have with the facility.
When speaking of why Trucklink EU decided to get involved in this latest project, Managing Director Nigel Todd shared:
“With COVID restrictions in place across the country, there’s been a massive shortfall in funding for LOROS – we’re talking millions. We thought, why wait for Rocket Round Leicester in summer… we’re sick of lockdown, let’s think of something fun to help NOW! It’s been so inspiring – loads of people have jumped at the chance to get involved with the Bonkers Bake Off already. Hopefully it’s going to be a massive success for the charity.”
Adding to this, Rachel Williamson, Welcomm’s Operations Director stated:
“Through the Bonkers Bake Off, we want to connect as many people as we can. This year has been difficult for so many, and this event is an opportunity to forget about what’s going on for an hour, and instead laugh at other people’s expense! That’s why I encourage you to grab a cocktail and join us on March 26th, as we have a lot of fun in store… in fact, it’s our mission to make sure our bakers CANNOT bake their cakes!”
The business community have really got behind us for the event, and we are thrilled to announce that our bakers include ex-England Rugby and Leicester Tigers player George Chuter, Chief Operating Officer of national retailer ‘Tapi Carpets and Floors’, Emma Collett, and Tom Warner, Founder of Warner’s Distillery to name only a few! Take a look at the slideshow above, for details of all nine confirmed bakers.
