Welcomm and Leversedge Support School Security at BSA Conference 2026

As a Certified Supplier of the Boarding Schools’ Association, we provide trusted safety, security and communications solutions tailored to schools and the wider education sector.

On Tuesday 27th January and Wednesday 28th January, our team was proud to attend the two-day Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) Annual Conference, held at the Crowne Plaza, Nottingham, where we showcased our school security and safety solutions. Representing the business were our CEO, Business Development Manager and Product Development Manager, who engaged with school leaders from across the UK to discuss the evolving security landscape within boarding education. The event provided an excellent opportunity to meet new schools and demonstrate how our integrated safety and security solutions are helping to strengthen safeguarding across the sector.

Throughout the conference, our team delivered live demonstrations from our stand, using display screens and working products to showcase our technology in action. Leveraging the full ecosystem of Motorola Solutions technology, we demonstrated how integrating CCTV, door entry access systems, HALO Smart Sensors and intelligent communications enhances safeguarding, operational efficiency and overall school security. The strong engagement and quality conversations across the two days reinforced the increasing importance of proactive, integrated security systems within boarding environments.

One of the key themes at this year’s conference was the growing challenge of vaping on school sites. Boarding schools, in particular, face unique safeguarding pressures when managing discreet or higher-risk areas such as bathrooms and residential spaces, where traditional surveillance methods are not appropriate. We saw significant interest in HALO Smart Sensors, which detect vaping and monitor air quality in real time, without the use of cameras or recording devices.

Reflecting on the conference, Aidan Piper, CEO of Welcomm and Leversedge, said:

“At the two-day BSA Annual Conference, we saw significant interest from boarding schools in HALO Smart Sensors, particularly around the growing challenge of vaping on school sites. School leaders shared their concerns about safeguarding and managing discreet or high-risk areas without adding to staff workload. Demonstrating how HALO works in real time showed how it can proactively address these challenges. It also reinforced the value of integrating it with door entry, CCTV and our wider security ecosystem to create safer, healthier boarding environments.”

The live demonstrations clearly illustrated how HALO technology can form part of a wider, connected safeguarding strategy. By integrating smart sensors with door entry systems, CCTV and communications platforms, schools can build a comprehensive security ecosystem that supports both student wellbeing and operational efficiency. This reinforces how we prioritise innovation, providing solutions that help schools manage safeguarding challenges and operate efficiently. It is a core part of our school security and safety solutions.

Rashedul Rahman, Product Development Manager, highlighted innovative technology solutions for safer schools:

“What stood out at the BSA Annual Conference was schools’ strong focus on strengthening safeguarding without increasing operational complexity. Discussions around HALO Smart Sensors and integrated access and video systems reinforced a clear message: solutions must provide meaningful alerts and actionable insight, not more dashboards. Schools need integrated systems that operate seamlessly and support staff without adding workload. Thoughtful system design is therefore critical to delivering coordinated safeguarding that protects students and reflects the safety-first standards expected of leading boarding schools.”

We would like to thank the Boarding Schools’ Association for hosting another successful Annual Conference and to everyone who took the time to visit our stand in Nottingham. The discussions we had reaffirmed a shared commitment across the sector: creating secure, supportive environments where students can thrive.
