Tapi Carpets and Welcomm Communications

Tech and Ecomm Award Finalists 2016

Tapi Carpets and Floors have a vision to inspire a new generation of aspirational shoppers. They’ve moved away from the tired fittings, dusty carpet rolls and heavy sample books that burden the high street. Instead Tapi Carpets offer bright and open stores which are packed full of refreshing displays to capture the imagination of every customer who walks through their doors. Buying carpets, laminate or vinyl flooring has never been so inspiring.

It’s amazing to learn that this innovative company only began during the summer of 2015, when they opened their flagship store in Tooting, London. Since then, Tapi Carpets have opened a whopping 45 stores and will be introducing another 28 by the end of 2016.

This hugely ambitious expansion plan hasn’t gone unnoticed. Tapi Carpets have recently been selected as a Finalist for the Retail Week Tech and EComm Awards 2016 within the category ‘IT Team of the Year’. Others shortlisted alongside them include Tesco, Screwfix, Asos and Aldi.

The award category recognises Tapi’s highly successful IT and communications systems that were implemented during their large-scale store roll-out. Welcomm Communications were Tapi Carpets’ chosen supplier to install phone lines in over 40 stores, based on them offering a reliable and scalable solution in the form of a hosted phone system. The ambitious task required a lot of hard work from Welcomm’s support team and in-house engineers. They were challenged to organise every part of the installation process around painters and electricians, whilst keeping to the unwavering store opening dates. Tapi Carpets have acknowledged that Welcomm were a vital part of the roll-out process so have therefore included them as finalists also for the Tech and EComm Awards.

This is a real-life example of how business partnerships are key to achieving success for all parties involved. Welcomm showed their gratitude by being responsive, flexible and providing a quality solution alongside a reassuring contingency plan. In return, Tapi Carpets continue to be loyal to Welcomm and have shown their appreciation by giving them recognition through the Awards.

This relationship will continue to develop, with both companies standing side by side at the award ceremony taking place on the 14th September in London. An exciting evening where both companies can celebrate the well-earned fruits of their labour.
