Using your mobile abroad is getting cheaper

O2 are improving their O2 Travel service to make it easier and more cost effective to use your mobile when travelling in Europe. O2 Travel will still provide you with your daily roaming data usage, but as of 12th April 2016 it will also include your voice and sms usage as well. Then from 28th April, there will be further reductions to the standard rate pricing in Europe for calls, texts and data.

This is the 1st step towards the EU regulations to create a ‘Roam Like at Home’ environment for customers when using their mobiles in Europe.

O2 Travel Today costs £1.66 for a days’ worth of data (GMT), which includes:

  • 50MB of data which is traffic managed, but allows you the option to buy a further 50MB at full speed
  • 41p connection charge to talk for up to 60 minutes, after which you are charged at standard rates per minute
  • Texts excluded, therefore charged at standard rates

O2 Travel from 12th April 2016 will provide you with the ability to use their phone abroad as they would do at home for the same cost, £1.66.

  • 50MB of data which is traffic managed, but allows you the option to buy a further 50MB at full speed
  • Voice and texts included with ‘fair use policy’ of 120 minutes and texts/bill. Calls and text included are those made within O2 travel countries and back to the UK
  • Received calls and texts are free
