It started from a small mobile phone retail shop in St Mary’s Road, Market Harborough.
Now town-based telecommunications firm Welcomm Communications has a staff of 70 and a turnover of £8.3 million in 2015.
And it has just been named as one of Britain’s most inspiring small companies.
The recognition for the firm, now based at The Point of Rockingham Road, has come from the London Stock Exchange Group.
Welcomm founder and chairman Chris Stanton said: “To be recognised for our achievements by the London Stock Exchange is a real honour and testament to the hard work and dedication our staff have put in.”
Welcomm is one of a thousand small and medium-sized “Companies to Inspire Britain” in the annual celebration of “some of the fastest growing and most dynamic small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK”.
London Stock Exchange chief executive officer Xavier Rolet said the selected companies are “the engine of the UK economy”.
Twenty-seven years ago, Welcomm was one of the earlier communication suppliers.
They now supply companies with mobile solutions, landlines, I.T. and energy saving products. The company has seen a 40 per cent increase in revenue since 2012, growing from £5.7 million in 2012 to £8.3 in 2015.
Welcomm has forged important partnerships with network and communication providers in the UK, including O2, Gamma and Avaya. Welcomm has also seen a big rise in cloud/hosted services.
“We could not do this without our highly skilled staff, which is why we invest heavily in staff training and our own systems” said Mr Stanton.
“We will continue to grow and evolve and I believe the future is very exciting for Welcomm and its staff.
